The Opportunity:

A career at SYSTRA provides the opportunity for you to apply your Human Factors expertise across a variety of high-profile projects. Reporting to Director - Human Factors, based in Sydney or Brisbane, the position will be responsible for the provision of Human Factors subject matter expertise and consulting services, working closely with clients across the ANZ transport sector. This will allow you to work autonomously, with support from the wider Human Factors team or as part of a multi-disciplinary SYSTRA team depending on the project. The role will be part of a well-established, collaborative and respected team comprising HF specialists across Australia and the UK.


Your new role:

  • Provide consulting services to clients in the field of Human Factors, predominantly in rail.
  • Lead the technical delivery of HF work on transport projects and undertake Human Factors Integration and Assurance activities.
  • Cross-collaborate with other team members to minimise project risks and enhance the positive integration/delivery of SYSTRA services.
  • Be a trusted contributor to tender submissions, leveraging your knowledge from a Human Factors perspective.
  • Provide Human Factors support in other sectors as opportunities arise.
  • Collaborate with other SYSTRA teams to scope and deliver an integrated service offering, particularly within SE/SA and Operational Integration.
  • Provide mentoring under the SYSTRA HF graduate program and support HF graduate and consultant development opportunities.
  • Promote the SYSTRA brand to help the team secure new business opportunities within new and existing projects.




Required experience & skills:

  • Degree Qualified in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in the application of HF methods, with previous Human Factors experience in the rail sector.
  • Experience in Human Factors Integration and Assurance, the application of established methods and a working knowledge of applicable standards.
  • Able to perform detailed research and analysis coupled with proposal writing.
  • Proven abilities to build sound working relationships across diverse groups, internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate a robust commercial acumen and a proactive approach to assist in the development of innovative solutions.
